The perfect black, white and grey apartment

Hello! How was your weekend? We're getting excited here as next weekend is Advent Sunday which means all the stars can go up in the windows and the fairy lights in the trees outside. The days are so short I love the warm glow from these lights. But before all of that - today's home tour. And what a very cool Swedish home it is. For sale through Entrance, the table's all set for a festive feast and the bang on trend monochrome mix of dark grey, black and white is softened by the light wood floor and exposed brick work. Love it, how about you?

Entrance

A couple of things I'm keen to point out. Firstly the vintage black leather sofa. These are so popular right now and look fab with mid-century furniture. I'm still kicking myself as I spotted one at Sopstationen, a recycle station shop in Malmö, a year ago and didn't snap it up. GRR! You can often find them on E-bay, Lauritz and LiveAuctioneers.

The other thing is the front door. There's often wear and tear on the side of a painted door. The people who decorated this home left the side of the door in it's original wood to avoid chips and simultaneously created a lovely relaxed feel.

Anything that stands out to you?

A couple of things I recognise and love: 'City of Champions' print. New York print. IKEA's HECTAR wall lights in the bedroom and HECTAR floor light in the sitting room.  Thonet 214 chairs.

Have a lovely day!

Angles from Annabelle's home

It's amazing how much inspiration you can get from zooming into selected areas of a home. Take this barn conversion recently featured on Design Sponge as an example. It belongs to Anabelle Kerslake. co-founder of fete magazine, and her family in Balhannah in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia. The pair have carried out extensive renovations and decorated the space using an eclectic mix of styles. French antiques rub shoulders with Danish mid-century items from her sister and brother-in-laws shop, while industrial and romantic florals also play a part in the overall look. Anabelle's rule has been if she loves it, she buys it. A rule close to my own heart.

Home: Anabelle Kerslake, Photography: Jane Cameron. Via Design Sponge with thanks.

What do you think of this eclectic style? Anything that stands out to you in particular?

For more eclectic home inspiration it's worth taking a peek at this and this one.

Mid-century (as you know) is one of my favourite styles (I'm sure you've seen my drinks trolley and coffee table!), you only have to take a look through the 30 'mid-century modern' home tours I've squirreled away! To source fab mid-century items try Lauritz, e-bay, Etsy or LiveAuctioneers.

Have a wonderful day!

A white Swedish apartment with an interesting míx

Hello! It's yet another grey day here in Sweden (apparently this is the darkest November on record!). Sometimes I love a little bleakness (really, I do!), but today I have a photo shoot and the lack of light will be a challenge. So, I'm in need of another home to brighten up my day, how about you?! I think this Swedish apartment fits the bill!  I love the natural light and the unusual mix of styles. The chair and lamp in the corner of the sitting room look great next to the contemporary pendant light and coffee table. And I love the addition of all the plants and flowers.

What do you like the most about this space?

One of my most coveted items right now is a round vase like the one you see on the dining table. Swedish stylist Lotta Agaton's also a fan - there's one on the table of the home she styled here. I love the glassware in her own home too.

If you're feeling inspired by natural light today (yes, I'm obsessed!) I love thisthis, and this home. Otherwise there's always mirrors like in this wonderful apartment, or candles like in this cosy Finnish dining setting.

I got a mail from my friends at Dutch company Oh My Home this morning telling me about their new ceramics line - and I had to share the link, the items are so beautiful! I'm a big fan of their posters too - the 'Whale all be fine' and sleeping Polar Bear ones would be so cute in a children's room. A little mid-week shopping therapy!

Have a lovely day!
